| It's impossible to fault Lexus on the grounds of quality. The SC is beautifully built, but that just isn't enough at the luxury end of the open top car sector. SC looks like nothing else, and that's part of its problem. With the roof raised it's just about OK. With it down, it looks dumpy and ill-proportioned. Front seat occupants have lots of room and are surrounded by a sumptuous cabin environment with lots of gadgets. But the rear seats are marginal, really only suitable for small children. With the roof up, the boot stows a reasonable amount of luggage. With it folded, there's only room for soft bags, so overall SC is less practical than some coupe/convertibles. It doesn't disappoint as a performance car, with decent speed and refined pull from the silky V8 engine. However it's unconvincing as a sports car and not at its best when driven hard. |
